The Television Season...
...slowly comes to an end.

It's been a rough season this year. There were slipping ratings all over the board to start with. Then there was the infamous 100 day writer's strike. You know, to digress slightly, that was just too perfect that it was 100 days. Makes me wonder if it was planned that way. Ah, conspiracies. Gotta love 'em. Anyway - the folks in television land get back to work and we have shortened seasons.

Some shows come back and go out with a bang. Others with a whimper. Others don't comes back at all, preferring to save time and talent for next season. I won't reveal anything about any of them, except to comment on one.

Desperate Housewives. If you haven't watched it, then stop reading now and come back after you have.

It had it's two hour season finale last night and it truly went out with... well, something. I'm just not sure what.

The first hour and 55 minutes wrapped a whole lot of things up. We saw Kayla and Wayne go bye-bye. We saw Lee & Bob break up and make up. We saw everyone rally around Katherine. And then we saw the future.

The rumor was true. They did jump into the future. And the future is... surprisingly similar. With changes. Gabi's a mommy, Bree is a success, Katherine is alive, Lynette is still tortured by her children and Susan is with someone who isn't Mike.

As for what the women look like? Gabi looks a little dumpy - I blame the clothes. Bree is super conservatively dressed - which is normal for two seasons ago. Katherine is alive and looks at ease. Lynette looks a little haggard. Susan looks like Susan - kissing someone else.

Truth be told, they look about the same with some lighting and wardrobe changes. I wish they'd done just a little more to make it believable considering we had great face shots of all of them just before that jump. But DH summed it all up beautifully a couple of weeks ago when I told him of the rumor and he mused that they weren't going to age with the jump...

... 5 years later and they haven't sagged an inch.
