The absurdities people do....

...what? People do absurd things, you ask? You say "WG, say it isn't so!"

Well, folks, it is so. People do some absurd things.

Like what, you ask?

Well, how about paying $800 for a $500 bill. Granted, $500 bills have not been produced for over 50 years, but that's one heck of a rate of inflation. Especially when you hear that a mint $500 can go for over $1000. *shakes her head at that one*

Or commenting that someone's choice of tasteful and sentimental jewelry violates an etiquette rule about wearing sparkly things prior to 6PM. (No, I'm not quite ready to let that rude one go yet)

Choosing a 'net username that's offensive and disruptive, but just sitting in the community not posting anything - it's like they're letting you just know that they're there, watching.... as if they're trying to make you nervous. *Shrug* Absolutely nothing to be gained from that... so why waste the energy? And most people who see it will think you're a complete moron on a petty vendetta anyway, so what's the use?

Hiding behind other people to get a point across that you really want to make yourself, but don't want to look like you're someone with an opposing viewpoint of popular opinion. People would be so much better off if they spoke thier mind, stood behind what they believed in, and still listened to the other side with an open mind and discussed things in a civil manner.

Or meeting someone at something like Burning Man, and starting to plan the wedding a week later... before he's even asked. Or getting pregnant to trap a man who really wasn't worth it in the first place, and the signs all point that motherhood wasn't a top priority or want in the first place.

Oh, and then there are all the people who really work hard at not working - or to look like they're working when they're not. They're just killing time. Or they're jobless and playing the system which inevitably takes more energy than actually getting a job and working at it.

Recommending someone for a job that they think you're very well suited for, and pumping you up for the job too as it's a step up for you, and then turning around after you've been in the job for 3 days and telling you that your head has swelled.

And then there's plastic surgery. What's the point of spending thousands of dollars on plastic surgery when it's all going to need re-doing in 10 years (or less) anyway? Gravity and age does amazing things to one's body no matter how well you keep things tucked and stitched. Give the money to charity instead and grow old gracefully.
