It's Valentine's Day

...So, Happy Valentine's Day to those to celebrate it, and uh, happy Tuesday to those who don't.

After DH and I had a discussion about Valentine's Day a couple of weeks ago, I had a thought pop up. And it just got stronger and stronger based on something that DH said. He asked me where Cupid had gone, which prompted our kids to ask who Cupid was.

See? Cupid has been so far removed from the consciousness of Valentine's Day that my own kids don't even know who he is. That has to be disgusting. But it also brings up the point that we don't know where Cupid has gone. Did he fly off somewhere? Wings caught in a tree? Did he shoot the wrong bottom one day?

I know what it is. It's none of those things. Cupid is in hiding. Witness Protection from Hallmark, American Greetings and anyone else who has a financial stake in Valentine's Day. That's got to be it. OH sure, you'll still see a Cupid likeness here and there every other year or so but that's just to throw off the scent. Now it's all about the flowers and the candy and the expensive cards and the jewelry, and anything else you can stick a price tag to, or charge to your Visa card. After all, it's everywhere...

...and Cupid isn't.


Happy Valentine's Day DH... Thank you for the cookie (mmmm breakfast! ok... maybe snack), the cute card and the box of chocolates. I liked the picture too.
