Round and Round They Go...
...where the politics stop nobody knows.

Once upon a time there was a man from Idaho. He wanted to go into politics and he decided to run for Senator. He won. Then the rumors that had plagued him for years started up again. That he liked other men.

He denied this, naturally, because he was married with children and was a fine and upstanding Senator who did not believe in same gender relationships. Then the Senator got caught trying to do something naughty in an airport bathroom and was arrested. He plead guilty in the hopes that it would make this go away.

The other Senators heard about this and said he shouldn't be a Senator anymore and he said he would quit his job. The end.

Oh wait, no, there's more. He's decided that he should *keep* his job until the end of his term. He's reconsidering the decision. And this is someone that got voted to the Senate? Geez, how bad where the other candidates? But I digress...

The former senator is now reconsidering his options because his lawyers are saying that fellow Senate members had no business looking into his conduct. Excuse me? The man attempted to solicit sex in an airport bathroom. I won't say allegedly because he already admitted guilt in a court of law. He tried, he got caught, he's guilty. There are some who think that he should be cut a break because he did something stupid, and who cares if he's gay or bisexual (claims that the former senator is denying vociferously)?

I care - if the man is gay and has been voting against rights for gay couples and individuals and has been vocal about it, then he's a hypocrite and has no place in the Senate. But again, he denies that he's gay. DH agrees. The guy isn't gay. "He's an equal opportunity horndog."

Well, at least he's balanced in that respect. But he's still going to have to face a court in Minnesota and a Senate ethics board before he can try to get his Senate seat back. I just wonder if he'll have any success and if he does, what will that say about the voters and residents of Idaho?

Maybe it will say that they stand behind one of their own. Maybe it will say that they believe in him when he says that almost 30 years of rumors that have followed him are not true. Maybe it will be a testament of faith in someone they chose to represent them....

....or maybe it will say they're equal opportunity balanced individuals just like the Senator.

No offense meant to my readers in Idaho, but you've gotta admit this is a little weird...
