We Survived...
...and I'm still sane.

A had her big birthday sleepover this weekend, and here's the rundown of the mess:

4 RSVPs
5 little girls show up + A & B.
2 large pizzas, one bag of Doritos, one huge batch of popcorn, 1 pound of strawberries, two dozen pancakes, a pound of bacon, a dozen scrambled eggs.
1 6-pack of 8 oz cans of Sprite
3/4 of one quart of lemonade
5 full sized cans of caffeine free Coke
Two movies (Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky), but there was a third watched around 3am that I didn't know about (Over the Hedge)
Endless hours of GameCube time
Three rounds of Rummy with one bored kid who had to be taught how to play and who realized she loved the game
Two games of hide and seek
An entire living room covered in sleeping bags and little girls
One warning (around 1am) to quiet down because they'd woken DH and I up
...and only one thing left behind (a Nintendo DS cable) that was picked up later that afternoon.

That's about the extent of the carnage. Nothing broken (not even my spirit) and they all behaved wonderfully and I think they had a great time.

The house was so *quiet* after they left, and it was very sudden - a total span of 10 minutes and they were all out of the house, and it was, well... quiet. So very nice and wonderfully, beautifully quiet.

A looked like she was slightly disoriented for most of the day, kind of zombie-ish, and refused to take a nap. Heck, she was fighting to stay up and read last night when we finally shuffled her off to bed at 8:45. Lucky her, she gets to sleep in today because she doesn't have school....

...wish I was that lucky today.
